Birthdays, Moms, Sprinkles and Chocolate

It was an excellent weekend,  I must say.  If you don't believe me, read this list and try to deny that these things are awesome.
* Celebrating a wonderful friend's birthday
* Strawberry Lemonade Martinis... Yum!
* Chocolate Oreo Truffles
* Playlists that include "Shake Ya Ass" by Mystikal, "Freek a Leek" by Petey Pablo, "Ride Wit Me" by Nelly, and topped off with "Heaven is a Place on Earth" by Belinda Carlisle.  One of these things is not like the other.
* My wonderful and lovely Mom (Happy Mother's Day!!)

As it turns out that I am a Master Chocolatier.  I made the most delicious chocolate Oreo truffles this weekend.  Seriously, they are like little tiny edible gifts sent from the universe to let us know that there is still hope for this world despite all the natural disasters, Bin Ladens and having to sell an organ just to buy a tank of gas.  Plus, they have sprinkles on them!  At first, I was not going to add the sprinkles because one time back in grade school, I ate a cupcake that had sprinkles on it and when I bit onto a sprinkle, it totally made my loose tooth come out.  It all worked out in the end though, because the cupcake was probably good (not as good as the truffles!) and I got a buck for that tooth.  While I do not have any loose teeth right now, I always still pause before sprinkling, almost like a moment of silence for that lost tooth.  Back to the truffles... I want to take a picture of them, but I am lazy and don't feel like looking for the charger for my camera battery.  I also made some cookies and some Coconut Melties.  I'm like a modern-day Betty Crocker.

So tonight's gym workout was sponsored by all of the delicious food and drink that was consumed this weekend.  From dinner at Onesto's, to drinks at Bailey's Chocolate Bar, to my own delightful confections, this workout was for you.

  1. You should so see if Laura will let you use the pics she took of the splendidly scrumptious truffles before we hit the town that Saturday. They captured their essence nicely.

  2. Excellent idea! That was quite a nice picture. She made them look like they belonged in a fancy bakery. Also, I wish I was eating one right now. :-)
